The Euro Travel Coach Team in Tuscany

Qualifications and Experience

Hello! I’m Betsy Ball, founder of Euro Travel Coach. I have always had a great passion for travel and people have been telling me for years that I need to start a travel company.  My husband Greg and I taught at a university in Texas for most of our careers.   I taught International Business, and Greg taught saxophone and directed the jazz band.  We also took students, faculty and friends of the university on trips abroad.  We designed and led these trips, start to finish.  Although we loved teaching and our community, we also wanted to explore the world further and find a way to share it with even more people.

We travel full time throughout Europe, discovering new experiences for our clients.

We retired early and decided to travel full time and share our passion for Europe with others. We sold our house and most of our stuff and now spend 9 months of the year abroad, volunteering for wineries, housesitting, teaching English as a second language and discovering new corners of this continent that we love so much. We take trains, planes and automobiles, stay in hotels and AirBnBs, dine in Michelin starred restaurants and try out local street food, shop outdoor food markets, visit museums and monuments, and enjoy all sorts of amazing adventures. We are living in and experiencing the European culture so we can share the very best of what we find with you!

Our passions inform the way we travel and our business.

I have a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Managment as well as an MBA. Before starting Euro Travel Coach I led groups to Italy, Spain and Ireland as well as Canada, Australia and parts of the US.  I like to get to know every single client we work with, so when you reach out to Euro Travel Coach, I will be your first point of contact.

In the 27 years when Greg was teaching music, he took students to the UK, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.  If you are a music lover, he will find you find the perfect concerts, festivals and venues for you to enjoy what you love.  He also helps us find hiking and biking routes that are perfect for those who enjoy the outdoors.

Greg and I have a passion for wine - which we view as an extension of our love for travel - and we both received our Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Level 3 Certification in Wines & Spirits in 2015.  It’s been wonderful to share our knowledge and enjoyment of wine with our clients. We love to help people find amazing wineries to visit, especially in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Austria.

It has also been our great joy to travel abroad with our two children from the time they were very small.  They are both in their 20s now and we know their travels have shaped their perspectives and worldview. If you’re traveling with a family, it would be our pleasure to help you craft a European adventure that’s perfect for all ages.

Our travel business is a family affair!

My daughter Chelsea is also a part of the Euro Travel Coach Team. She is a graduate of Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration and worked for Hart Davis Hart Wine Company for three years before joining Euro Travel Coach.  While she was in school she interned with two famed New York City restaurant groups (Union Square Hospitality and Dinex) and was one of only 6 recipients nationwide of the Kopf Foundation Scholarship, which gave her the opportunity to travel for six weeks to California, Italy and France during the harvest season to study wine.  Through this opportunity and her work experience she developed personal relationships with vintners and local producers that we are often able to share with our clients.   Because of her passion for hospitality, Chelsea is also particularly fond of seeking out unique accommodations and fantastic dining experiences for our clients. She’ll find you the very best restaurants and hotels based on your specifications.

In addition to her background in food and wine, Chelsea currently lives in Europe and can therefore offer on the ground, insider knowledge. She and her husband lived in Copenhagen for a year and a half and now live in Bristol, UK. They travel regularly all over Europe, finding the best experiences for themselves and for our clients!

Travel Philosophy

When we create itineraries for our clients, we do not make our recommendations based on earning a commission. We want to find the perfect accommodations, transportation options, activities and dining opportunities based on what you tell us you and your travel companions will most enjoy. As a destination expert, we charge a fee for what we do instead of earning a commission on each sale, like most travel agents. We find this allows us to find the very best of everything for our clients.

Planning a 10 day trip to Europe can take upwards of 80 hours of your time.

You might wonder why we want to help people make great travel plans.  We believe life is too short NOT to spend time doing what you absolutely love to do, for as long as you are able.  If your kids are still at home you probably love being with them and watching their activities.  If you’re a golfer, you might want to get out on the course any time it’s not raining!  If you enjoy being active in the community and making a difference in the lives of others, then you should be spending time doing exactly that! We feel that you should spend your time and energy doing what you love to do, and if that’s NOT trip planning, let Euro Travel Coach perform that task for you and do it well. We like to think of it as outsourcing. Perhaps you pay someone to clean your house, or do your taxes, or renovate your bathroom, or mow your lawn - why not do the same thing for your travel planning? That way, you can continue to do the things you love to do…and still go to amazing European destinations!

We want to help you find unique, local experiences on your European holiday.

There are so many things to see and do in Europe and you will definitely want to see the major tourist spots in the places you visit.  But we also want to help you meet the locals and experience the unique culture of each destination.  We think you will have a better experience and have the chance to understand the places you go if you interact more with the people who live there.  We want to give you the tools you need in order to handle all the logistics on your trip.  We want to help you balance big cities with small towns, the hectic pace of tourist spots with the pure joy of being immersed in a new place with new people and fresh ideas.  And we think you should eat the fabulous food and drink the amazing wine and toast often with a pint of beer -- because that's what the locals do!

Do what you love so you can love what you do!

We truly enjoy planning people’s European adventures. We love to be able to craft customized trips based on our clients’ individual interests, and witnessing the joy that travel can bring. Let us do that for you!  Drop us an email at and let's start talking about your travel dreams!  Fill out our questionnaire and tell us about you and your travel companions and where you would like to go.  Allow us to put our passion and experience to work for you to make your trip to Europe absolutely amazing.
